I've got some eager and totally bummed out kids on my hands. We got them a new Polaris Predator 50 this weekend and after 10 minutes of riding the quad boggs down and dies, and the battery goes dead trying to restart after doing this a few times. If we let it sit, the battery seems to recharge and away we go again. Good for another 10 minutes then boggs and dies again, battery goes dead again trying to restart. Does anyone have any ideas? While it's running it runs good, can't hear or see anything obvious. Could be overheating? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, seriously. Thanks for your help,

First off, welcome to the site. Secondly, if it's new, I would bring it back to the dealer you got it from. Did you check all your fluids? Maybe the dealer forgot something?? Wish I could help you more, but I am sure someone else will chime in with better info for you

I did check the fluid levels and everything appears to be fine. What sucks is we live 2.5 hours from where we bought it, didn't have much of a choice there. I was thinking maybe the safety leash was loose, but that doesn't appear to be the problem. Just by the way it keeps happening, after about 10 minutes, it makes me think it has something to do with the engine getting too hot perhaps. But here again, all the fluid levels are full, so I'm kind of lost.

Ok, 2.5 hours sucks. Wait until some more people see the post. Maybe they will have better suggestions for you.

Welcome to Davids Heath,
I'm no tech, but this reminds me of a neighbors problem with a vapor lock, where the gas cap wasnt vented properly. Quick test, loosen the gas cap and run it, see if anything changes.
Overheat, dont think so. Thats an air cooled bike right? 50cc, has to be... I dont see that being an issue.
I'd call the dealer immediately and let them know, see if maybe they could walk you thru some basics? Maybe its a common issue they know of?
AND it shuts off? Are you certain you're not riding around with the choke on?

Thanks for your help guys. The choke is definately not on, that was the first thing I checked. What's odd, now that you mention it tho, is I did notice that the gas cap has NO venting tube. Does that make sense? I thought all bikes had vent tubes coming out of the gas tank.

Hmm, I guess not
It was just a guess, but the symptoms you described were exactly as the other bike so, loosen it, or remove it and drive carefully........ (My neighbors Raptor 80 and Grizz125 have 'em I'm pretty sure.......)

I did a search on Google for you and found the same problem on another forum.
Here is the post: "I have my daughters Polaris 50cc scrambler on the back of my truck as I type this. Same thing ride for 10-15 minutes and die, leave it for a while and it starts up,today it died and wouldn't go again! I changed the fuel filter as it was broken on the inside" brass ring" and thought it was restricting the gas flow, lots of gas in the fuel filter but didn 't help! My son has the same year quad and no problems! I will let you know how I make out. As for these other people, they turned your question into a pis--ng match about how old kids should be to ride rather than trying to help with the problem! "
And here is the reply: "Hi guys, just heard from the Polaris dealer and he said the carb had dirt in it! Cleaned it out and said it runs good! Let you know when I get it home and she tries it out!"
Hope this helps
