I have a 2000 400 A/C ATV and the battery won't charge. I'm only getting 11 volts at idle and that will slowly drop as throttle is added. DOes anyone know is this a stator problem or regulator?

Wayne....
Before you go to all the expense of stator work/replacement be sure to check ALL electrical connections (including fuses) from the stator to the battery..........I had the same problem on my Kodiak and found it was caused by corroded connectors to the battery posts. Cleaned em up, dialectric siliconed em and no more problems.
Have you checked your battery? If it is an original, that is pushing the life expectancy of the battery. Take the battery out, put it on 2amp charger overnight, and if it charges to zero then you are ok. (sometimes a simple fluid topoff is all that is needed)....Otherwise have the battery tested. Batteries are ALOT cheaper and easier to get to than stators..........but if it comes to that.........then maybe the stator is bad.
But, again, let me reiterate......CHECK ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS!!! FIRST.....
If you do alot of water riding I HIGHLY suggest you spend a day dialectricing ALL your electrical connections.......EVERYWHERE YOU CAN FIND ONE!!!!
Let us know how it goes.

Last winter the original battery finally died. I bought a new one in Jan, my wheeler plows snow so I use the winch a lot. A month ago, I added a two way radio to it and a few days later when I came to use it the battery was dead. No lights or fan comes on when the key is turned. I disconnected the radio, recharged the battery, but now the battery won't hold a charge at all. The wheeler starts and runs fine after using the pull rope. I am going to really look it over for dead shorts also.

Thanks
