Nephew has 1987 4stroke Honda 4 traxx. The chain keeps coming off the rear sprocket. We looked at it yesterday and there is a piece broken on the axle. Dont know what used to be there. It is on the left side of the axle, next to the sprocket. It apparently has a two piece collar to go around the axle. What is this called and is it the guide for the chain? Also, how do you adjust chain? (I have shaft drive, so this is new to me)

That would be an axle nut. As far as adjusting the chain every model is different. On my warrior its a pain to do first you have to loosen the 2 bolts on the bearing carrier to loosen the axle. Then on the swing arm theres 2 little bolts. The way I do it is I back them all the way out and count the number of turns, they both have to be turned the same amount times on each side and just keep checking the tension on the chain as you're turning the bolts in. Then just retighten everything the axle bolts and so on. Its most likely different on Hondas but this may give you some idea.
