I have a 2003 Suzuki Eiger 400 that has been leaking oil....Hubby checked it found that it is leaking from around the airfilter area. Just a bad seal or what? Any help would be appreciated.

How much oil? Just a few spots when parked or a constant leak?

A few spots everytime it is parked. Have to put paper box under it to catch the oil drips.

Is he sure it's coming out of the area around the air filter? Not the oil filter?

The air filter sits in the air cleaner box above or next to the top of the engine. The air cleaner connects by a hose to the carburetor.

Here's a schematic of the carb, if it helps him in any way: 2003 Eiger Carb

If the oil truly is pushing into the air cleaner, I'd take it to the dealer if it's still under a warranty.

If your ATV has a crancase vent that goes to the airbox you might just have overfilled the engine with oil. Or, you might have a worn piston/cylinder and "blow-by" is causing oil to come out the vent.

I thought it's a 2002? Anyway's, here's what I think happened. During last springs late snowfall I was plowing the driveway. Took a good 2 hours or so. When finished I noticed the engine was very hot and smoking. I turned on the key but the fan would not come on. I checked the fuses and sure enough, the fan fuze was blown. Don't know how long the fan has been out, must have blown the fuse using the winch on the plow, overloading the electric system. That is why there is oil in the air cleaner box, blow by from the crank case I'm thinking. The oil level is normal and the oil filter is not leaking. It's a air cooled engine with a external oil cooler. The fan aids in the cooling process. The oil leak came on slowly over the summer. Started with one or two drops to about a teaspoon every couple days. Still runs great and has plenty of power and dosn't smoke. I will have to bring it to the dealer. Hopfully it is something simple, like a pcv valve or something....
