Husband got a 1991 250 polaris atv. not even 24 hours later our 12 year old rolled it. It bent one side of the handle bars real good. He got the handle bar bent back but ever since the roll over , when you put it in reverse it seems to rev up very very high. Anyone think they could help us figure this out? Thanks Tina

I had similar problem happen to my old Trailboss. More than likely it’s one of two things:
1. The reverse override switch is stuck.
2. The connector for the reverse override switch separated from the quick connects under the plastic. Depending on what model you have, it’s either under the front fender or under the gas tank.

also dont know if this will help but in low range, neutral, high range idle is fine. As soon as you start to engage reverse or have in reverse the idle goes to the rev limiter point. We dont understand this either.

kinda hard to diagnose without ever seeing one but this would be my best geuss to check.Try to engage reverse without it running,so the idle doesnt shoot sky high, and see if the throttle cable is being pulled or moved by the reverse mechinism or cable.Unless theres an electrical componant that is involved in it, then its a horse of a differant color
