I am rebuilding my honda 200sx and I just bought a Starter solenoid from Autozone from a car. It is a 12 volt one. Anyway what is the proper way to hook it up. I have my electrical wiring all set up. Correct me if im wrong but is this how it goes :::: Negative from bike to BIG copper screw top of Solenoid :::then another batter lead from the solenoid to batter::::. And positive lead from bike to BIG copper screw on the solenoid:::then another batterylead from the solenoid to the battery::: and then the wire for my electric start on the handle to the small solenoid screw top::: and then::: the electric start button from the bike to the other little screw on the solenoid thus making contenuity::: The Solenoid has 4 screws. 2 BIG COpper ones and 2 small silver ones. Does this all make any sense or am I retarded. Thanks for you help Jim.

Something doesn't sound right, but it might just be me who's retarded. There should be two big terminals.... one is Batt. + input and the other is for the starter + output.

Ok Jim, im gonna disreguard all you have written, because either you confused the hell out of yourself, or outta me. Either way here it goes......

The Two big posts on the solenoid are your LOAD posts, they are for switching the heavy starter load on and off. You should have a Big positive lead going to one of these post from the POSITIVE side of the battery. The other big post should have another big lead(wire) going to the starter.

The Two small posts are the control. One post should be connected to the starter feed from your starter button(12v+ when button pushed, open when not pushed). The other post should go to ground.

Now for the kicker, if the start button is ground controlled, meaning when you push the button you get a ground instead of voltage, you need to supply 12v to one of the small posts and the other connected to the switch(this is very uncommon, but i have seen it on small equipment).

Lemme know if you have any other questions.....
