So I finally got my service manual from Japan this week, and began some teardown this morning. I am at a standstill (by the way, I see the failed part, looks like a gasket or seal failed closed to the swingarm- practically hanging off).

Is Yamaha telling me that the rear AXLE has to be removed in order to get the rear disc brake off???? How. The service manual appears to be more about re-asembly, then dis-assembly, and even if I sorta "work backwards", I still get stuck here.

Appears to be no way to remove the read disc sheild/ and disc, the bolt heads are BOTH meeting in the center!! In other words, BOTH are hidden from view.

Anyone?

1) Not worn out at all. Need to get axle off, replacing swing arm.

2) Pictures , even in the SERVICE MANUAL do it no justice. What looks like "2 bolts" is actually 4, and the HEADS meet in the middle....

EDIT_ Just spotted the typo.... Nice...... and correct me if I'm wrong, but SJ wants a pic? Ewwww!!!

Do any of these pictures help? If not, maybe they'll help you explain what you're facing. http://www.HLSM.com

I have very similar pictures, and thanks for looking for 'em, but my issue sorta falls inbetween the last 2 pictures. Seperating the disc heat/debris sheild from the disc itself.

I may have help Sat or Sun....

Maybe take a picture then post it?

Sat+Sun are riding days, not wrenching days!!!

BTW- did I understand correctly... you're replacing the swingarm with another one?
