OK I have the game! It plays awesome, sound effects are pretty good, not great, but I have one complaint so far.....
Wheres the brand name stuff??????????
The WOLF is obviously a WOLVERINE but after that, who cares? What a let down, now maybe its because I JUST starte playing it, but I didnt see any credits for the big 4, let alone the others so????
Note- trick system is awesome!!

Update. Sound effects good, sound effects for the BIKES themselves, horrendous! ATV 2 sounded WAAAAY better, what a shame. Those really into "it" like me saw the "making of" video where they bragged about all the bikes and how great the sound effects would be (?) They aint. The bikes are fakes (so far) but the aftermarket parts arent (weird). Gear ratios, bumpers, exhaust, ALL name brands, even sponsors are real, all on FAKE bikes. You can paint the bikes all different ways, small feature, but OK......
Ok enough complaints, it plays rather well, you can actually power slide, donut and now bicycle thruout, so long as you have like 20 fingers and the dexterity of a world reknowned Piano player......
So.
Sound Overall 80%
Bike sound 50%
Gameplay 90%
tracks, locations 90%
Trick options 90%
How to DO the tricks 70%
Overall score, IMO, 80%

Only was able to put about 20 minutes into checking it out but have to agree with your take on it.
I remember hearing that there was a $$$ concern about using "real" quads etc but not exactly sure about the details, and thats what is really missing because these "made up" models are missing something that the connection to the real models had in II.
