Hey guys i am looking at getting a silencer for my 04 blaster. I was looking at the pro circuit one with the usfs spark arrestor on it. has the brown sticker on the side with the trees. Not looking for really an increase in performance but just some sound.
Has anybody used or heard this exhaust?

I was thinking about a pipe. The fmf Gnarley pipe looked like it would suit me best. Pictures show it is more of a all around setup.
But Do you have to do anythything with the carb when you change these parts out? Just got the quad about a month or 2 ago and really don't know too much about them. Especially carbs. Which is another reason i was thinking of buying just the silencer to avoid messing with the carb.

let me know your imputs? How hard is adjusting the carb if i do have to do it?
what do you think of the pipe and silencer setup?
I have basically been doing just trails but also do some motocross.

Have to think you got that backwards.

More power is where its at and just being louder without the power increase would be a total waste, and prob get your local ride place that much closer to being full of police or shut down.

Any time you increase the amount of air an engine will be able to move like you do when you go to a less restrictive intake or exhaust you will need to re jet the carb to allow it to flow enough fuel to mix with the air properly.

If you dont rejet it can run lean and that can cause the engine to run hot and seize, and this is even more of an issue with a 2stroke.

There would be some gain from just the silencer but the real increases would be from the full exhaust and an intake.

Another thing to consider on a two stroke is where you want to power to be or come on. Though its real hard to get much bottom end torque from your engine it is possible to seriously raise the mid to top punch with some pipes and just the top with others.

Once you decide where you want the "hit" to be start questioning what rpm range each pipe is designed to increase. Its no fun riding if your engine only makes power on the top end if you dont like riding the way a set up like this needs to be ridden.

Hope that gets you in the right direction.

see a buddy of mine has a fmf power core 1 on his dirt bike and it has a deep sound. not really loud but really deep. and no pipe.

i want something a little simple. trying to avoid carb stuff because i have no clue what i am doing and the yamaha shop by me wants 60 - 85 an hour for labor.

I would like to keep the spark arrestor though because some places out of state require them.

so thats why i was thinking of either the power core 2 or the pro circuit nature friendly one. I was leaning a little more towards the pro circuit one because i have heard they are a little better. but again i have no clue

so i was hoping that i would just be able to get a pipe and not require any jetting.
Is it possible?

Your concerns about paying too much to have someone jet it, and not wanting to mess up the carb are very understandable, but its not as hard to do a jet change as you think.

The problem is that any pipe, silencer or intake mod that is worth a damn will allow more air to enter and or exit the engine, and as stated earlier this requires more fuel to avoid running lean and causing damage.

I am sure between the members here and some very easy to understand websites you will most likely be able to rejet if you have some mechanical ability (if you can change the pipe and silencer you should be able to change the jetting)

After the first time it only gets easier etc and I rejet my carb several times a year to match the temps and altitude of where I am riding. Its to the point that I can swap out a main jet in about 2-5 minutes without rushing.

Have you talked with any pipe mfg's or parts dealers about the power delivery and rpm range of the pipes your looking at?

Deff call around and after you have figured which pipes make their power where you want it you only have to decide on what one to get out of those, and it just cuts down the amount your considering etc.

Does the jetting thing still cause you concern ?

a little bit. messing with a carb can really cause problems. i am waiting for one place to call me back. possibly if i buy a complete exhaust there they will help me out on the cost of jetting.

Where you located?

Has to be someone on here that could take a 1/2-1 hour to help you get it jetted correctly.
