I have to replace my brakes which are getting low and was just curious. is it a difficult thing to do?
it doesn't look like much but i don't have too much mechanical experience either. is it something i should just take to the dealership?

i used the brakes a lot of the trip and even before the trip. and in order to get the parking brake to work i need to tighten the cable a lot. so i figured with that it means my brakes are getting low. they look like they are almost done. i may not be looking at them right though. damn i need freak to move closer to my house.

also my clutch is getting really loose. the bandle itself is really loose. gotta tighten that up.

Hey Kev, dont judge you rear brakes by how much parking brake you have left, or by cable adjustment. The parking brake should be adjusted properly at the caliper, not the cable. As for how much you have left??? I cant see it from my house...... . But you need to determine the difference between pad and backing plate, there should be no less than the thickness of a piece of carboard left on pad. If it is thinner than this replace them.

If ya wanna snap a picture of them and send it to me, i may be able to make a determination, and if you are feeling froggy, i can talk you thru replacing them.......

Could be from riding the brakes but dont forget that some riders use the throttle more and need to grab a whole lot more brake

I am being serious cause if you pay attention to how often you actually are needing serious braking and how often you change the pads you will find there is a connection.

Most people dont ride too aggressive and therefore get a lot more time from their pads. If you ride lots of water or mud it can have a large effect on the life also.

I have had aftermarket front pads wear out in as little as three rides.

One suggestion on the parking brake is to upgrade to a block off and forget about it alltogether.
