I was changing the carb jets. As I roteted the carb I pulled the wires out of the TPS. I was able to do some micro surgery and get them soildered back. My problem is it still acts like it did when i discovered the problem. Won't idle and back fireing. I'm thinking the wires may have touched after I ran it. What could have hurt? I removed battery cables tinking it might reset the ECM but no luck.

Help.... Please

Went to that link and read a little on the site. Ill let you read it for yourself. :hysterical:

"... Big bores and strokers on the YFZ are pushing the envelope. The stock YFZ is already pushing the envelope. You dont want all this hassle? Then get a Honda, or stick with a stock YFZ-450. ..."

That guy looses credibility for saying that. Hondas aren't more reliable than any other bikes. People who say things like this never furnish any proof and are just trying to be accepted. People who believe it are sheep and are being ignorant.

Honda sells more low-performance machines than anyone else. Maybe that's where the false impression lies. It's difficult to break something that can't be ridden hard.

I really don't care to get into "my bike is better than your bike". I'd just like some knowlegeable imput as to what happened with the Throtle Posion Sensor on my YFZ

Thanks

You can also try Thumpertalk.com?

They have a ton of info on all kinds of 4 stroke machines.

Did you have the problem before you pulled the wires out of the TPS?

From what I am to understand the TPS really doesn't make much of a difference pluged in or not. I believe the TPS tells the ECU where and when to make timing adjustments as per throttle position. Slight adjustments for a more efficiant power curve.

If you had this problem before the wires I would look for another reason you are backfiring.

The TPS was not the problem. The problem started after the wires were yanked out and the bike was run. That's when the damage happened. I worked all day and swapped every electrical part out except the stator and pick up coil with parts from my sons YFZ. He has been online looking for help and someone told me just what to do and it worked!
